Get a Cold Weather Survival Kit for Your Car
What To Do In Case of a Cold Weather Survival Situation

I am still getting questions about winter survival for the car. I completely agree that it is a good idea to prepare your car for getting stranded in cold weather and snow. Here are some tips and what I would do if I were just getting started with winter survival preparedness for the car.
First, buy a good survival kit with extra space so you can add your own items. You will still need the same survival supplies in the winter as you would use during the summer. You are just going to add some winter survival gear to your summer survival kit.
Once you have purchased your survival kit, make it waterproof by enclosing all survival items in a plastic bag. Also, spray your survival backpack with a waterproofing solution to protect your bag and its contents.
Now you are ready to add some winter survival supplies. There are two things you will need to focus on-staying warm and staying dry. Pack extra gloves, hats, socks and other clothing so you can wear layers in cold weather or simply have a change of dry clothes to change into. Pack lots of body warmers.
I would recommend a simple plastic rain poncho. Wear the poncho over your other clothing when it is snowing to keep you dry and to provide a wind break.
