Shelter-Look for anywhere that blocks the wind, rain, sun and snow. A rock crevice, a ravine, a cave or heavy brush.
Food-Learn what plants and animals are edible. Dandelions are an excellent choice for a natural salad. Raw fish is a great source of protein. Berries and raw birds' eggs are very nutritious as well.
Water-If you are in a dry area, look for patches of green vegetation as this usually means there is water there. Dig into the dirt a couple of feet into any moist soil and the hole will often fill with water. Also the bottom of canyons and ravines will often have a stream or river at the bottom.
Tools-Rock chips and animals bones make great tools for hunting, digging or defending yourself. These items are just lying on the ground free for the taking.
Clothing-Large plant leaves or animal skins work well as makeshift clothing. If you are not able to find these items, rub mud or soil on your skin to protect it from the sun and insects.
